I do not know how about you guys, but I am going
to setup my news environment to ignore anything
sent from "Organization: Cox Communications"...
Too much trolling for me :-(

That's probably the best idea I've heard on this subject so far. I'm
changing my settings as soon as I send this.

Then it's a good thing I just switched ISP's.

After a while, you'll be filtering everyone, but yourself ;).

I have a couple catalyst 6500s to configure over the next week or two... so,
I will be busy.

See you all in a few.

instead just block from specific IP's there really are only a few bad ones.
there is an Header with the ip of the host in it.

NNTP-Posting-Host: 68.105.114.168
is mine

NNTP-Posting-Host: 68.13.174.203
is datroll or whatever it is calling itself today

only because I am on cox, and I DONT send spam often and label it as such :)

I can change the MAC address on my router and get a new ip in a second.

This won't stop the problem.

Get a clue retards.

Are you using Outlook? If so, how do you do that? I'm not seeing it
anywhere in Message Rules.

Jesus Christ. Have you ever heard of Google?

That's what's wrong with you people in this group. You don't want to work
for a damn thing and expect the knowledge to be handed to you on a silver
platter.

Why don't you switch news clients (google can lead you down the correct
path) or build a linux box and use the default news reader to filter out
b.s.

That's what I do in the groups that I hang out in and actually
participate... unlike my trolling efforts in here. ;)

You might need to sell a fish tank or two in order to afford that linux box,
but it will be worth it.

I know there was a way, ive stoped using OE as anything other than a reeder, instead I am
using this little progie that grabs the news and lets me set my OE to localhost where it
not only filters but saves all messages, as i respond to a few groups often enough, this
helps me keep track of what i said and also makes searching easier :)

ill have to do a better search for it later yahoo didnt help me this time, its available
in a freeware mode, ive got the purchased version which just allows other local machines
to connect to it.

Our troll feels the pain because he is bombarding my e-mail
in revenge :-) Poor guy does not realise it does not hurt me :-)
These are too old trick for an experienced internet user like me.

Anyway, if anybody wants to filter him and does not know how,
let me know - I will help you. I am not seeing him any more.

I'm getting bombarded with e-mails containing .exe files as well. Nice guy.
I forwarded his mail to just in case they can do something.
Not that it matters to me really, as I don't use this e-mail account for
anything other than posting to newsgroups. So bombard away, and if it makes
you feel happy to receive bounced back mail because my inbox is full... good
on ya. It doesn't affect me in the least. The only mail I get to this
account is from you.

Nope. Wasn't from me. You weren't on the list until 2 minutes ago. ;)

Probably just the same spam everyone else is getting pal.

If you had a host that had a clue, they would be writing mail filters to
block the type of spam you are referring to... all of you.

If you only knew the truth about this 'kid'.

On one level, I don't like you for the inconvenience you've caused a group
of people who are just trying to learn and/or help others learn. On the
other, I have a strange appreciation for the level of committment you're
showing to acting like an ass. Not that what you're doing is impressive
technically or anything. It's just good to see a kid who doesn't have a
short attention span these days. Heh.

Using OE as your newsreader, I promise, you see me every time I post.

Outlook Express alone is not enough if he changes addresses.
You need to have some proxy between OE and the news server.
Like I have. I would recommend getting a Hamster on your pc.
It has very developed scoring system and lets you filter
not only based on the (usualy fake) e-mail address but also
based on some other fields in the message to keep the troll
away. Building a score script to filter our troll is easy.
Once properly configured it will keep the troll invisible.
I can see many messages captured in the Hamster "kill-file".
With many different names or e-mail addresses. It does not matter.
I can choose to pick him up from the trash and download
message if I think it is not the troll, or to see how the
troll is screaming in pain when he is not doing any damage :-)
