View Full Version : Moon lights?

Does anyone here use a moon light? If so, do you have it on every night, or
do you cycle it in an attempt to mimic moon phases?

The reason I ask is that I just built one. They seemed kind of expensive for
what they are, so I put one together myself for about $10 using a blue LED.
The tank looks cool now (a faint, shimmering blue light cast on the rock)
but beyond that... will this be any benefit to my inhabitants?

Thanks!

Regards,

Dave.

Did you get the DIY plans for the moonlight off the net? I have
looket at several DIY plans and on my 120 want to put around 5 LED's
across the tank.

I didn't use a plan from the net, but it's pretty simple - like wiring up a
light bulb. I can put a quick how-to together this weekend and post it on my
site if people are interested. I don't how useful it would be though,
because I put it together mostly from stuff I had around my house (ie. the
tank mount is just a small piece of shelving bracket that sits over the side
of the tank).

Dave.
