View Full Version : Naso Tang Feeding

I recently took a Naso off the hands of a friend. He had recently
bought it from sal****erfish.com, but it was twice as big as the
description and too big a species for his 35gal tank anyway. I bought
the 5" tang for $30 from him and put it in my 75gal. The fish will
each flake food and nori like crazy, but he seems to be very thin, I
can see its skeletal structure.

I started out light with the food when I first got him, but Im now
giving him at least 3/4 of a nori sheet a day, plus he gets a good
portion of the flake food intended for my 2 tomato clowns. Im thinking
of giving him a full sheet of nori a day in separate feedings. How
much should I feed him?
TIA

When I saw feeding time in Chicago Oceanarium in the tank
with tangs I saw a whole bag of nori (10 sheets) secured
for the tangs to rip as much as they want to...
But this was not your average fish tank - it had 1000's of gallons.
This big fish will polute your tank water pretty quickly.

If you think it is eating enough and still does not get any fatter
you might check him for digestive parasites...
Somebody with more experience might advise some treatment.
