lights how high from tank?

How high should I suspend my set of 36" PC 96W lights on my 50G FOWLR+very
few easy corals? I want to maximize UV/Light, but minimize heat on the
glass tank cover. Is 12" (1 foot) too high?

Make it lower if possible. Can you remove the glass tank cover? Add some
12VDC computer case fans with universal DC adapters to keep them cool.
