View Full Version : Vendor Reports...

I just want to put this info out for other folks like me who always go to
google groups and research online vendors before they make a purchase..
I have just recently had good experiences with the fallowing vendors:

www.foryourfish.com
Ordered an Ehiem filter and various other supplies. They had shipped me a
filter that was a well packed used return. They apologized for the problem
and shipped the next better unit at no extra charge for my trouble...

www.aquariumpros.com
Ordered salt, various supplies and one of the new Coarlife CF 24" lights.
The light was on back order so they shipped the rest and the light arrived
on time as promised. Great deal too..

www.drsfosterandsmith.com
Ordered two kinds of substrate and various supplies. They could have packed
the package better. The box was almost broken open because of the two 15lb
bags of substrate, but all arrived fine...

www.ipsf.com
Got their $99 deal. Very happy with the critters. All was well packed and
arrived in good health.

www.etropicals.com
Got their $60 free shipping deal on a custom clean-up crew. All arrived in
great health and very well packed. Very happy with that purchase...

Good idea!

I can add www.reeftopia.com to the list. They are bad with keeping
up with e-mail responses, but I had never problems with the orders.

BTW - have you got any experiences with http://www.fishsupply.com?

Recent bad experience with them: ordered some stuff for over $250
9/27/2003 and my order is not shipped yet. They promisse to ship
in 12 hours, not in my case. I e-mailed them yesterday evening
(after 9pm) and I got reply today with apologies:

"Thank you for your inquiry to Drs. Foster and Smith. We apologize as your
order has processed but has not yet shipped from our facility. We will
email you the tracking number as soon as it is available. We sincerely
apologize for any inconvenience this has caused"

There is no reason given for the delay and not keeping the promisse.
No info on WHEN the order will ship. No information, just simpy
"sincerely apologize". I am very disappointed with this order.
As long I can remember they were always bad with delays, and this
12-hour promisse is just fake. This time I need stuff ordered
quickly, so their delay is more painful than before and I decided
to share my bad experience with you.

Probably, but it is not so bad - there is no emergency, yet :-)
Next time I need something fast I have to order air shippment.
A nice lady at custommer service told me they process fast
shipping orders first... :-( It is understandable, but why to give
false promise about 12h order processing? Ech, just marketing I guess.
They promise this packet to arrive 4-7 days from the order date
so maybe they will keep this promise at least, with FedEx help...

Cheers,
Pszemol.

I'd like to add my experience with www.foryourfish.com
Stephen, at least they send you used but working supplies. They sent
me defective Ehiem wet/dry professional filter and does not even reply
to my email anymore.

I have filed a online report at:
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff68097.htm

As of 10/09/2003, I still have the defective parts. Does anyone on
this list know how to get intouch with www.foryourfish.com ?

I think Murphy is mad at me for some reason, because I still
do not have a part of my order from 9/27. Now it looks like
it was finally sent to me on October 7th but FedEx does not
have any records of the package... What a strange case!
And the delayed item (refugium!) was not market as on "backorder"
so it should be in stock but it took them week and half to find it.
And then, to lost it again :-)

Had a simalir experience with the Drs. Tried to order some of their
LR, was promised an overnight shipping date and made all the
arrangements to have someone meet the FedEx guy. Shipment didnt come
and I called. I was told that my order was low priority because it
didnt have any livestock in it. So someones 25 dollar order of one
fish took priority over my $300.00 order even though mine was received
first. When i asked about why I was told it would be shipped and why
I wasnt notified of the cvhange I got the canned response.

I use to get almost everything from FFExpress before they merged or
were purchased by the Drs and they were the greatest. So I figured I
would give the Drs a try, and I can say I will not be giving them
another one.

With FFExpress I had the feeling of a smaller more personal operation
that cared for their customers, even when I had a problem. From the
Drs I got the big company feeling that they didnt really care how much
inconveninece they had caused and really did not do a thing to even
try and fix the problem.

Reason that is, they are only a small time shop, probably don't even have a
storefront, otherwise, they'd have a phone.... This kinda answer makes me
think, here today, gone tomorrow.... kinda business... either open up big or
don't open....
