==================
Prepare for a HUGE water bill. :-) If there's a lot of muck and leaves
you'd be better off emptying the pond and refilling it. Just removing the
muck and rotten stuff from the bottom doesn't make the water "clean." It
will be full of dissolved organic matter, minerals etc.

Try getting a pool skimmer net with a fine mesh,. I've found those work
fairly well, you can just scoop the muck and leaves out, and dump it
somewhere in the garden.

They clog up real fast (assuming you're talking a venturi type valve on a
hose?). Shop vacs work much better. If you have one, try it first. (Remove
paper filter.) ~ jan

Some work, some don't, they _all_ waste a huge amount of water to do the
job. If you can combine the vacuuming with watering the vegetable garden,
it might be worthwhile.
