Well after raising/breeding African cichlids for the last 5 years, I've made
the step to setting up my first marine tank.

Here's what I have so far:

72 gallon bow-front tank
EHeim 2026 Filter
BakPak 2 Protein Skimmer
2 powerheads, one located at the top left of the tank,
and one on the bottom right of the tank.

JBJ 48" Compact Flourecent 4 65watt bulb fixture with 2 7100k actinics and 2
10,000k flourescent lights on timers. About 12 hours on actinics and 11 hours
on flourescent lights --- Is this too much, too little light????

When can I expect to see some sort of growth of algae or anything on the rock?

About 3 inches of Aragonite bottom

Started with approximately 12lbs of fiji live rock soon to have much much more.

The tank has been running with this for about 1 week.

Any comments, suggestions? I'm completely new to this.

Thanks for any help!

You are right on track, so far. Your lighting schedule is just right, in my humble
opinion. It is not too much light, but it should be okay for many soft corals, and
perhaps a few hard (SPS or LPS) corals if they are closer to the top of the tank.
