HI,, i need to put a brick edging around an already established pond.
Can anyone tell me if the mortar will damage the fish/plants?

The text books say if any mortar enters the pond during construction,
the pond must be emptied and all traces removed. Be very careful, I suspect
it's lethal.

Cement has lime in it, so i guess this would worry the fish a bit lol
What about these new building blocks that click into each other .
Or depending how big your pond is you could cover ir so that none of
the mortar falls in the pond Hope you are able to carry out your work
ok with no fatilities

If you use normal crete and mix then yes it may harm your fish/plants. You
can buy a special mixture to put in the concrete mixture to make a safe
solution preventing the lime leaking out. Take a look at
http://www.seapets.co.uk/product-details/stkcode/440825.html its a uk site
but if you live elsewhere in the world I'm sure you can get a similar item.

You could phone bradshaws up. They are a pond specialist. There is something
you can put in cement to stop the lime.
