I built a fish tank stand and theres a gap in one corner between the tank
and stand, I can fit a penny in it and slide it about 3" each way, the water
does lean towards that side of the tank slightly, so I'm thinking pull the
tank off and put a layer of foam under the entire tank to make up for any
other imperfections, maybe 1/4" ? oh and where do you but this stuff, home
depot?

It's advisable to have a layer of foam under every tank anyway. I've had
two tanks crack where they haven't been placed on foam. I get foam tiles
from my LFS.
But you sure purchased a very wonky tank! ;-)

Office buildings often have suspended polystyrene ceiling tiles. These
will do the job if they aren't embossed and are simply plain and flat.
Check your local DIY store.

Most hardware/home improvement stores carry Styrofoam sheets and/or
cork. While many people usually suggest using foam, I use cork under my
tanks, which I got at an art supply store. (I like the way it looks as
opposed to Styrofoam)

Local Home Depot... 1" syrofoam insulation under my 240gal tank (and sump).
works great and is a real bargain.
