I am looking for instructions on cultivating white worms. I'm actually
trying this for finches but since I know many fish enthusiasts feed live
foods, I was hoping someone could tell me. The internet was less than
helpful.

i got a starter batch from a finch breeder, but all she said was put them in
dirt. Also less than helpful.

White worms are best cultivated in temperatures between 55 degrees F and 60
degrees F. Under 50 degrees and the culture will slow their metabolism to
the point where they aren't much use and anything over 65 will stress them.
Over 75 will kill them.
Use an old refrigerator if you have one. Pry off the temp knob to reveal the
set screw and adjust the temperature to 55 - 60. Dampen some white bread
with a mild yeast solution 2ml yeast to 1 liter of water, and place the
white bread in the center of the culture. Place some plexiglass over the
culture to retain moisture. You can also feed any left over starchy foods,
pasta, mashed potatoe, etc. By placing the food on top of the culture, it
makes the white worms easy to collect. Additionaly, if you don't use the lid
of the culture, the edges dry out a bit and again the worms are forced
towards the center.
Good luck with you finches. Once you get the white worms going, you'll need
a couple fish tanks. =)
