natural garden pond help!

Hi
I have a small garden pond with run of the mill goldfish, about 8 in all.
I know there are some that breed in there as there has been evidence of this
activity in the past.

Unfortunatly I ran a pump in the pond and I fear that most of the fry has
gone through it or been eaten.

This year I have not run any pumps or used barley balls to clear the water.

all the fish are healthy although there is plenty of alge and the water it
dark green. If I was to clean it out and change the water, or start up the
pumps, when would this be recommended? as I do not want to lose any of the
young fish that may be in there, there is also frogs and newts that have
found there way in there.

Try some hornwort, anacharis or other water plants to absorb the a/n/n green
algae needs.

I have kept a small pond and used biological filtration only. Put in LOTS
AND LOTS of plants! Try to have 70% of the surface area of the pond covered
with plants. Keep in mind that if all the fry survive you will be overrun.
It is normal for some of them to be eaten.
