Archer Fish.

Has anyone heard of these, The story I got was that in the wild, they can
squirt water at bugs to bring them down.
These things are Silver with Black lines, and are triangular shape, I have
no idea how big they get. They are fresh water tropical, and I,ve been
advised to keep them on there own. ??
But being a man, I'm gullible when a woman tells me anything.
So does anyone have the "good oil" on them.

I assume you mean Toxotes jaculatrix or one of its relatives? They're
cool fish, but brackish rather than freshwater. Adults in particular
require brackish water. The store where I worked had a 15 cm SL adult
fish in a large brackish tank with green scats and monos kept in water
at a SG of 1.011 (half sal****er). Toxotes chatareus gets bigger, to 20 cm.

Archers either spit water or jump to catch insects so you have to keep
an archer's tank very well covered. Supposedly you can see the spitting
behavior if you lower the water level and put insects on wood or plants
sticking out of the water but I've never tried.
