Are there any air pumps for 20 gallon aquariums that are known to be quiet?

I'm afraid the only time they are quiet is when they are unplugged. NetMax,
used to move his pump into another room. My pump is not bad though....and
it's one of Whispers biggest ones ( sorry no model available.

Here's a suggestion. I use real cheap little air pumps that buzz quite
loudly, so I moved them through the wall into the garage. A small hole down
near the skirting board brings the air line through and I clipped it neatly
to the skirting board on its way to the tanks. Truly the only sound now is
the air bubbles in the tanks. Might not work for you, but it's well worth a
thought. Hope this is helpful.

The Rena air series is said to be amazingly quiet. I have never used one
myself because I prefer power and since I live on an urban road I am used to
some background noise (cars with loud engines and stereos maxed out at all
hours of the day and night) so the pump sound doesn't effect me. I prefer
the luft pumps the most.

I have several, and love them. Very quiet. Not too much $$$ either.

I've only got one, a small one, but I'd have to agree. It's sitting on
a hard surface and you can hear it hum if you're within 4-6 feet but
past that it's inaudible. My computer hums louder :-).

Those dolphin pumps look impressive and are impressively cheap too, I looked
them up a little. My only complaint is that they have a low psi which I had
thought would mean they don't have high output pressure but they must to
work successfully under 6 feet of a water column so I will need to do more
research to find out about p.s.i.s and water column pressure. Thanks, later!

I am current;y running 13 Sponge filters off my Dolphin 5star pump & it has
more left to go. I actually have it turned down a bit with the dial on top.
It is super quite even withing 2 feet from it I can't hear it over the
bubbles from the filters.

Cool I plan on buying one of those 5 star units soon, after I dig in with
research about them, thanks for sharing your experiences, I like dolphin
pumps - half the cost of a luft and still approximately as strong! Later!

I ended up with a Dolphin dual outlet, and it is really quiet and powerful!
Thanks for all the help.
