View Full Version : Matt's tank - a sad day again :-(

The female Cherry barb died today....the symptoms were different from before
(my news server has deleted the post so I couldn't follow up on that one).

For new readers we have now lost 8 out of the 9 fish in the 15gall tank for
no determinable reason. I thought that it was a stuck heater and very high
water temps - I'm not entirely convinced yet that this isn't the underlying
reason. They all displayed very distinct symptoms - fine in the evening and
then went downhill over night and never recovered. This time she was fine
this morning but floating tonight (most unusual IME - they normally sink)

As there were only the male and female Cherry Barb in the tank (and I
couldn't risk adding any more fish) - he was hassling her....chasing her
most of the time....the last few days she has been hiding but I never
thought that this would kill her. Maybe her immune system had been
undermined by the ongoing tank problem and the chasing was just too much - I
don't know. There is one fish remaining....not sure how I am going to tell
Matt (who is with his Dad tonight) :-(

A sad day :-(
