grasses beside the pond or the mistake that is NEVER going away

I took some seeds from these grasses from a lake
in Idaho and thought one bunch would be nice
at the edge of the pond. One bunch. HA! There
is NO such thing as one bunch with this grass.

I posted a picture of these Godzilla grasses.
They have their roots wrapped around fist sized
rocks. They are not coming out. Ever...

We all have things we would do differently if we
did our ponds over again. And we can and do - do
them over again. But some of them are there FOREVER
until they eat you and all your relations.

Does anyone else have a pond mistake like that??

My biggest mistake is allowing the water celery to jump from the pond and
filters. It is slowly (maybe not so slowly) taking over the area
surrounding the pond. It has displaced all the herbs and perennials I had
planted around the ponds covering the statues and ornaments.

At least my WC is out-competing the common horsetail that was infesting
the are I have it in.....

My horsetail wouldn't grow in water. Now that it's planted in the garden
with the hostas it's growing like crazy. It's been real dry here for weeks
now.

I planted a similar plant but did not pay attention that it was indeed
grass . Spreading like wild fire and covering the other perennials and
ornamental rocks.

My plan is to wait until next spring before growth and trim the grass to
nothing, then "ROUNDOUT" sections I don't want anymore.

OK, now, before we panic... :-) What's the problem with celery taking over
the whole lawn (it hasn't happened to me, so maybe there _is_ a problem,
but keep an open mind!)? Sure, you might have wanted those herbs, but I'm
sure you can plant them somewhere else. Meanwhile, you could end up with a
perfect no-cut ground cover.

Is there a landlubber type of horsetail? I had it growing in a really dry
lawn, but would never grow in the pond. My neighbor has it in his pond and
it looks identical.

$$ I don't know. It was sold as a pond plant. I had it for years but it
barely survived in the pond.

were all aquatic. I can't believe how mine is now thriving and spreading in
