View Full Version : Aquaclear filter media volume?

Does anyone know the media volume of an Aquaclear 30 (old 150) or
Aquaclear 50 (old 200)? I'd be very grateful for the inside
measurements of the media basket on these filters.
I'm switching my guppy tank over to HDL Tri-Base Carbon and the
freshwater Right Now! Bacteria to see if it can actually denitrify.
They're very specific about the amount of carbon to use and the water
flow through the carbon bed, and I may have to use a larger filter than
my Aquaclear 20/mini. Hopefully, the 30 will do the trick.
TIA!

The media blocks that fit the AC-150 are 1-1/2 high by 2-1/4 by
3-3/4 inch
The media blocks that fit the AC-200 are 1-1/2 high by 2-1/2 by
4-3/4 inch
The basket for each of these filters will accept 3 media blocks
(high), with
no room left over.
Measurements (+ - 1/8 inch) were taken from new (unused,
unwetted) media, that has been stored for over a year. Im
guessing the new model numbered filters take the same size media.
