View Full Version : Question on feeding

Hi, I have a 8-gallon tank (BioOrb) with 5 small fish, 2 zebra danios
and 3 white cloud minnows. I am worried about the smallest white
cloud. I have had him for close to 3-4 years and I got him from
somebody who had him for at least a year. So, for a little fish he is
old I presume.

Anyway, he was always a little plumper but for the last 4 months or so
he has had trouble eating the flakes. He goes towards them but does
not seem to be able to get much or any into his mouth. He has gotten
really skinny and has tried to find food on the bottom once I finished
feeding them. The Zebra Danios are pretty agressive during feeding but
he gets up there in the mix but seems to be having trouble eating.

Also, how many times a day should I be feeding them? I have been just
feeding them once a day but will up the feeding schedule if I have to.
I just worry about overfeeding and dirtying up the tank. Also, any
suggestions on what I can do for my little minnow? I am somewhat
attached to him and don't want him to die of starvation.

thanks

The listed lifespan of a white cloud is only about 5 years. It's
entirely possible that your fish has simply "reached the clearing at
the end of his path".
As far as feeding, opinions vary, but I feed a variety of foods, one
feeding daily, only as much as the fish will eat in a couple minutes.
If any food remains, sitting at the bottom with nobody eating it, I
decrease the amount at the next feeding.
