Hi All. I have had my tank up fine for about 6 months. Now I see that I am
getting loads of red algae - what am I doing wrong?

It sounds like Cyanobacteria. Go to your local LFS and ask the clerk for
something to treat it. I cant remember what I used to get rid of mine when I
had it... But I do remember it was a white power with a real small spoon..
in 24 hours it was cleared up.. The second thing is make sure you're using
RODI water... if not, it's likely to come back..A healthy tank starts with
good water. Good Luck

Hmmm - I am very hesitant to put some more chemicals into the tank when I
have all fish happy and stable for the first time in ages.....

Anything else I can do?

ChemiClean works great. The other option is to wait it out for about 3
weeks. Clean your skimmer well every other day, increase flow in the
tank, siphon out what you can reach, reduce feedings, decrease lighting
period....

Or use the product and solve the problem in 24 to 48 hours.

Let me know if you want specific guidelines.
