Can Open Red Brain Corals Move?

I have an open red brain coral that keeps winding up snuggled next to a
chunk of live rock. We move it away so when it inflates it is not touching
anything. Within a couple of days it is back close to the rock so when it
inflates the same spot is always touching the rock.

I imagine the inflation - deflation cycle may cause some movment, but it
always winds up in the same spot and doesn't go any farther. Are they
capable of purposeful movement?

i've seen them inflate really large, which makes them get moved by currents
a lot more easily. if you don't move anything around in your tank, the
current would be pretty much constant and move them to the same place.

you could put a dab of devcon epoxy on a rock to glue it down.

Makes sense. Some days it's so inflated it looks like it will POP!
