What is out there for use and at about what price range?
I used to have a reef before I moved, now I want to get back in. I was at a
store that custom makes tanks and is in the process of reopening a new
retail store. The owner was interrested in getting someone to wire the
store for the Internet, etc. But he wanted a POS system for the register
and inventory. I have no idea what is out there, but I was thinking I could
trade some of my expertise in networking for a new tank and supplies.
TIA for any ideas.

Honestly, you should try a posting in a tech group.
I know a private tech news server with absolute 'geniuses'.

Try www.atrex.com
not specifically for LFS, but pretty good inventory control and pos
software. been using it for 6 years.

Quickbooks POS
It can do pos, inventory, and keep his books. Its off the shelf and he's not locked into some proprietary system he has to pzy a fortune to support.
and no, I don't work for the company that makes it.

We will be releasing a system with integrated POS, Inventory, Accounting,
Contact Management, Job Costing, Job Scheduling, Employee scheduling, PIM,
Bank Rec, Goals, Revenue splitting, email, etc in about a month or so. Our
system uses InterBase as the database server, so there is no extraneous
costs for the software. We also are not forcing an upgrade path on our
clients, like the big boys are doing now.
