I recently found a painted turtle that was slightly damaged. Looks like
someone ran over just the corner of the shell. He looks OK except for his
right eye is bulged out and milky.

Is there anything that can be done to prevent infection and heal the
swelling?

He is eating a few earthworms and loves swimming in the current of a power
head in about 6" of water. Is there a way to encourage him to eat small
feeder fish?

TIA

Haven't tried it myself, but others have mentioned using triple
antibiotic ointment (Neosporin) - 3 antibiotics in a white petroleum
(Vaseline) base. Just rub generously over the wound - it should be
waterproof.

BTW, depending on location, it may be illegal to collect certain turtles
from the wild, unless you're a certified Animal Rescue person. You're
probably fine, just don't go boasting to your Game Warden friends. ;-)

No idea, but keep us updated on his/her progress.
