View Full Version : pruning/cleaning planted tank

I was wondering just when to prune my plants. Should they be allowed to grow
and partially cover the top of the water's surface? or is this basically up
to your preference whether you like a out of control look or cleaned up
look?
Also there are little bits of dead plant material floating on top of the
water, should I clean that stuff up or just let it decay?

Prune healthy plants according to your preference. Keep in mind that
plants growing over the surface can shade those below.

All the little leaves and floating bits should be removed. They tend to
break into smaller bits and eventually clog your filter. I net them off
the surface whenever I change water or clean my filter.
