I saw my Lysmata amboinensis shrimp with a piece of scarlet hermit
in its mouth, it looked like chocking with too big piece if it...
It was definitely crabs curved abdomen in shrimps mouth!
Shrimp was hanging in the back glass just above hermit crab remains.
I could not see crab shell near by so it might be dragged over here.

Would you guess it died on his own or was killed by the hungry shrimp?
Could it be attacked during shell exchange or during molting???

could be just cleaning out the shell after a molt.

Dragon, i don't think it would moult leaving his abdomen behind... probably
the hungry Lysmata grabbed him while in the process of switching from one
shell to another..
My Lysmata wurdemanni, when hungry (always) will grab and eat anything they
can overpower... namely my once large colony of Stomatella sp. and Scutus
sp. now made of just a few very large and secretive members..

it very well could have snatched the crab, but IME when crabs molt the
entire body molts not just the head/claws.

the molts look just like the crab climbed out of the shell intact.

Not really because molt is empty inside. This time it was not empty.
Shrimp was consuming the whole abdomen of the crab filled with guts.
A nice white and read/pink color, like the crab just molt and was soft.
