1) What is the standard practice with regard to level control. Are most
pond setup to maintain a fixed level of water to counter act leakage and
evaporation?

2) How are your pumps wired? Do the plug into a standard outlet or are
they wired directly into a circuit.

3) Are the pumps on circuit breakers, or fault detection devices.

and finally
4) Are pumps 120 volt or 220 volts

Mine isn't. I would guess that most smaller ponds are not. When mine
gets low I fill it with a hose.

I had a circuit run to the pond area, with a standard outlet on the
end of it so I can plug things into the circuit.

The circuit has a breaker with ground fault protection built in.

Mine is 120.

We use a toilet valve to regulate the level. No hassle. You can see it
on our webiste.

Our pump plugs in a normal 110 outlet. Has GFI.

Probably _most_ ponders don't do that, though. I think it's a fine idea -
but I'm on a well. If you're on city water, and you have a genuine _leak_,
you could end up making the fish swim in chlorinated water.

I think hardwired pumps are not even legal in the US and Canada, but I could
be wrong.

Both. Always.

120.

This varies alot, how big is your pond?

Both

Both, but GFCI always!

Both, depends on the size.
