Hi,

I use to clean the filter every 2-3 weeks.
What I do is remove the hollow cylinders from it, and keep them over a
towel, while i wash the rest of the filter with water.

But i'm not sure if this is ok with the cylinders and the bacteria.

Also, Cylinders are covered with some debris, which i don't remove, but
wonder if I should do, should I?

Thank you.

I always rinse everything lightly in tank water including the ceramic
cylinders - remove the gunk and leave the rest

You can swish the filters in dechlorinated water to get the debris off. Like
fish water you drained from a tank, or water you dechlorinated from the tap.
Be careful, chlorine will kill the good bacteria and you will have to start
the cycle over again.
