Mark,
I have recently replaced my 55 with a 75 and having trouble stabilizing my
PH/Alk and calcium.
Can I use Reef Builder and Reef buffer by seechum at the same time?
Got to keep it simple. This stuff is way over my head.
Thanks,
Paulette

Hi Paulette,
I've been using B-Ionic to stabilize my Alk and Ca at the correct levels. I do
have the Seachem stuff as well, but only use it occasionally so I can't say for
sure.
Your best bet is to do a water change, because that always levels these things
out nicely. Then you can use a 2 part additive like B-Ionic to keep your
levels up. You do have to do it daily though.
pH is maintained with good oxygen exchange. Use a powerhead to keep the surface
rippling nicely.

Well setting up the 75 I did do a big water change and used all RO water
this time. No tap water! Added more sand. Used Instand Ocean for my salt
mix. I have my return from my sump moving the surface and two powerhead in
the bottom keeping current on the bottom.
But it has been 5 days and my star polyps are still mad and will not open
up. Every body else looks great. Even my BTA's are looking better than ever.
The only thing I can think of is maybe the PH and I am going to get a ALK
tester tonight. My calcium was at 400. Or do you think eventually it will
settle down on its own. Wondering if I will cycle again since I saved
original sand on the top and 60 lbs of rock. And also I used all of my 55
gal sal****er except for the bottom dregs. It really looks cool. I added a 4
ft actinic light and I think that is what the others inverts really like.
What do you think?
Thanks for trying to help,
Paulette
