Hi guys,

Does anyone know where I can get an aquarium divider to fit a 20 gal H
tank? There is only one supplier on ebay, but they have expensive
shipping.

I live in Australia, so if anyone knows of a place in Australia, or
anywhere else with cheapish shipping, then please post a reply.

Check the local home improvement store and pick up the egg crate light
diffuser. You can then cut it to size.

Although I have not had a need for a tank divider, I have heard this
recommendation from several people. Even Cichlid breeders!

You can make one yourself very cheaply with plastic canvas and a couple
of report covers. http://www.petfish.net/tank_dividers.htm has directions.

thanks guys!

I was thinking to myself recently I would try to make one from some
craft store doweling and some plastic greenhouse mesh (is that the same
as plastic canvas?).

I like the idea of the plexiglass (I assume this is just perspex?) but
there's that other possiblity taht I might try to breed my bettas, so
I'll need to stop the fry escaping if I do breed them!

Plastic canvas is a heavy grid of plastic with holes about 2 or 3 mm
square. Water flows through it pretty well.

has a photo. It's usually for sale in the needleworking section of
craft stores. Fry would probably be able to swim through plastic canvas.

Plexiglass would be fry-proof if you were able to seal the edges well
enough. Then you could put air driven sponge filters in each section of
the tank.

When I sometimes used tank dividers many years ago I just used a piece
of glass, cut to size at a glass store or window store or wherever it
is that you can buy it.

If all you need is plastic mesh, you can get sheets of it at Wal-Mart in the
arts-n-crafts section (or at any decent hobby or arts/crafts store) and make
your own.
