Hi -

I'm new to newsgroups and can't figure out how to find other groups. I was
led to this one by an email with a hotlink, I guess.

I keep seeing references to other newsgroups such as:
rec.aquaria.freshwater.misc - but I can't figure out how to make my Outlook
Express find them. The only groups it can find are those I already found
because somewhere I found a hotlink.

I read a couple FAQs and whatever I could find (and stand to read) on
Google, but I'm still clueless ...

I have several aquariums and used to raise cichlids commercially on a
Florida fish farm (1985-1990) where I had 35 ponds and more than 500 tanks.

I'm just now falling in love with fish again, though I haven't been without
at least one or two tanks since I was a little kid, and I'm old now ...

thanx - Lucky

On your left there should be a "Folders" pane. The news server you connected
with should be listed there, and as a sub category to it should be this
newsgroup. Right click on the news server and select "Newsgroups". You can
then enter a search for "aquaria" and subscribe to the groups you want.

If you don't have the "Folders" pane on the left, you can put it there by
clicking "View" and then "Layout" on the OE toolbar, then put a check in the
box that says "Folder List".

I'm not sure how it works with every ISP. Mine has newsgroup access, and I
had to configure the newsgroup account in OE with the news server, username,
and password provided by my ISP. If all else fails, call your ISP and ask if
they have newsgroup access, and if so, how to configure OE so you can access
it.

Good luck,
Gary

OK Outlook express page,, Click Tools, click Accounts, click News,
click Add, follow the page until you have completed all the stuff for rego,
see other posts. above for instuctions on this.
You will then see a new entry in the Folders section of Outlook
express,
"news. .com Click on this, You will get a Synchronization of
Newsgroup page, Click on middle tab, Newsgroups, You will get a screen up,
do you want to load newsgroups, Click Yes, and your ISP will start to load
them.
The number depends of your ISP, When it's finished loading [ takes a few
minutes] above the list there is a search box, type in Aquaria. A list of
groups will appear below, click on the ones you want, then click
Keep//retain. When they have loaded, click on the newsgroup icon in the
folders collum, and this time click the Synchronize account box again, all
your news groups will list, click in
new messages only box, Then right click the newsgroup in the folders
section and click, "catch Up" failure to do this will load ALL the posts
from day One. Then next time you visit, you will only load the new posts...
It's quite easy, even the Dog can do it..
