Hi All

I have a toadstool coral that was recently stung by a Condalactus
anenome that for no apparent reason decided to wander around the tank.

Since then the coral has been in a pretty bad way and in the last few
days started to disintigrate. Part of it, however, is still extending
its polyps and I was wondering if anyone would know if its possible to
save it - perhaps by cutting off the "good" bit and grafting it to
some rock to grow into a new coral.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Go to reefcentral.com and search for toadstool.

The quick answer is yes, cut off the good part and hook it onto a new
substrate.

Hi Rachel,

Pull it and the rock it is attached to out of your tank. Using a very sharp
knife or razor blade, cut all the good tissue that you can, and simply rubber
band it to a new piece of rock. According to Anthony Calfo, you can't kill a
leather. (Of course, you aren't an anemone either.) <grin>

You could even make a few frags from it, to have several toadstools later.

I've taken two cuttings ( all that was left really). I'm amazed at how
quickly it deteriorated.

I guess we wait to see what happens. Thanks for the help chaps
