pencil erchin

Looking for some information:

I have a pencil erchin, i have read that they will munch on my soft corals.
(this am my green mushroom was gone ) in a 33G tank
Some sites are telling me they are "reef safe" and or with caution.
I am debating on taking it back to the LFS.

any advice would be awesome ! thanks

Seems like every urchin I've had is different. Some, pencils and pincushions, are reef safe, and
some will eat anything in front of them.
