Hello gang,
I have a decorator crab in a FOWLR tank. Recently one of my larger hermit
crabs has started to attack the decorator crab. I have another SW tank that
has a mated pair of YSMClowns, a lawnmower blenny and a BTA in it. It also
has live rock and live sand in it and assorted small hermits and snails.
I'm wanting to move the decorator crab to this tank for his own protection.
My question is: will he try to decorate himself with parts of the BTA? The
BTA is just slightly bigger than the decorator crab. Any help on this will
be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Adam:
I rather just bring the large hermit crab back to your vendor or give
him away. That way he can go to another home and the decorator crab
does not have to be disturbed.

Howdy Brittany,
The large hermit is one of 4 large ones and they all seem to be pretty
aggressive. They are also the only crabs in the tank other than the
decorator. I've been wanting to move the decorator for some time now
because the other tank is a much better environment (It was my first and is
much further along). The decorator started out in this tank but had to be
moved after he was caught tearing up a feather duster (the feather duster
did not survive). The whole thing is that I don't want to see the same
thing happen to the BTA. So what I was asking is if you all think that's
what would happen. I'm really attached to both the BTA and the decorator
crab and don't want to lose either. So what do you folks think about them
trying to live together? BTW the tank is only a 30 gallon so there's not
much room for each to have a lot of their own space. Thanks again for
everyone's help on this dilemma.

it's a flip of the coin either way. you'll never know till you try it and
fail/succeed.
