View Full Version : How I was stupid.............

Stupid me decided that when I did my water change, I needed to clean my
protein skimmer, since it was a bit nasty looking. So I clean it, put it
back on tank, then I realize I need to hurry to get my kids from school.
So I started it up, not noticing all the microbubbles going
everywhere.................so when I got home a couple of hours
later...........oh crap bubbles everywhere. So I turn down the airflow.
Next morning my lemon peel angel was dead. The smaller fish in the tank are
fine. I learned another lesson today...................

I had read they could damage gills. Or is that another load of crap? I
can't find another reason it croaked, the water I added was the same
salinity, ph 8.4, salinity .025, zero ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, the
snails, hermits are fine, but I don't see the damsel or the 2 neon gobies
either. Can you think of a reason it croaked?

Pygmy angels will do that (especially Lemon peels). Bad collecting
practices can take months to catch up to these fish.
As far as the bubbles go there are not really a problem. I'm having a
bubble problem right now with a closed loop that is getting an air leak from
one of the pipes. It's been going on for a few days now & I haven't had the
time to properly deal with it.

Oh thanks. That makes me feel much better. I have also had the same
probelem with blennies in the past as well. I have always found it odd to
have only one fish in the tank die, and find nothing wrong with the water,
and the other fish carry on like nothing was wrong at all.
