View Full Version : Anenome

I got some new live rock yesterday and I came home and put it in and there
was a small anenome on it. He was maybe about an inch in diameter. He seemed
fine all day and then this morning when I turned the light on he was gone. I
am assuming since I have no fish in there(2 hermits and 2 snails) that he
went inside the rock. Anyways I get home from school this evening (12 hours
later) and he still isn't there. Is this normal?

I *think* it was a bulb-tentacle I haven't been able to find a good site
with lots of pics to id it for sure. I thought that the anemones needed the
light and I would be able to spot him during light hours. But I haven't seen
him now for about 24 hours.

From the size you described, I'm betting it looks like a baby BTA, but it is
actually a Anemonia Mejano.

By the look of some of the pictures I found that could very be what it is.
He still has come back into the open and it has been 2 whole days. What
should I do?

If you ever see it, remove it if you don't want it. It will spread out and make
more exponentially.

they'll be no tribble at all."

So I found him today and he is curled up in a little ball on top of a rock.
Would this mean he is dead?

Quite the opposite. I think that is what they do before they split, over the
next 48 hours. I've seen this happen, where they turn into an inverted bubble,
and I'd guess it is how they prepare..... Total WAG on my part.

You had my hopes up here...:-) But I guess that's what mine does before it
runs to hide. :-(

ya, arent the Mejanos the coral killers? they will multiply like crazy.
but so what, just pull them out when you get a prob i say, and give some
away. if you already have expensive corals, i would think twice about that
species from what i heard.
