Hi,
I have what appears to be an Orange Sand polyp growing on my LR. The polyp
is just about 1/8" in diameter and appeared two days ago. Might more appear
near it in the future? Any guess as to when?
Also, there is a gray slime covering the purple (coraline algae?) parts of
the rock and some appears to be sloughing off like peel from a sunburn. Any
ideas to what it is?
Finally: There are white feathery growths about 1/4"-1/2" long attached to
the LR in quite a few places...any identifiable clues from that lame
description?
I must admit watching these rocks come to life is fascinating...are fish
really needed? 8^)
Thanks,
Dan

No, it's definitely orange. The gray slime only covers the purple parts of
the LR.
The feathery thing looks like a very miniature version of the white
anenomoes we used to see diving the Puget Sound...but they were 3-4 ft tall.
