View Full Version : HELP My heater cracked, electric shocks? Corals sick!!

Me
November 8th 03, 08:00 AM
I went on vacation for 2 weeks, and came back to find all my mushroom
corals, and button polyps shrunken up. In further investigation, also
lost my flame angel. 3 fish look ok.

I found that the heater had cracked, was full of water, and that the
cord pulled out of the heater! It shocked me (electrically!) when I
found the cord.

Was electric shock causing the sickening of my corals, or was it the
burnout of the heater and the release of toxic chemicals into the
water?
What should I do now?
I did a 15 % water change so far...

HELP!!!

Assuming you aren't another version of the troll, pull the heater, test your
water, and if you see things are out of whack, do a 25% water change.

Keep an eye on your tank. You might re-seed your DSB with a cup of LS from the
LFS' display tank.

Put your head in the tank while the heater is still connected, and do
us all a favour.
