Just curious on where to go to purchase reef additives (Ca, Iodine, etc.).
Any recommendations?
I just ran out of the LFS purchased Kent Reef Starter Kit, and have been on
the lookout for something a little more cost-effective.
Thanks!

If you really want to be "cost effective" stop buying any of those unnessary
additives except for something to maintain your Ca. and ALK, whether it be a
2-part system such as b-ionic or Kalk.

What about Iodine & Strontium/Molybdenum? Is adding these chemicals just a myth?

If you do water changes or feed your tank those eliments are being replaced.
Have a look at this article and see what is being replace by just feeding your
tank. (not to mention water changes)
http://www.animalnetwork.com/fish/data/foods.asp.
Then remind yourself how toxic things like Iodine/iodate are when they are
above natural sea water levels.. Then ask yourself if you can afford/find a
test kit that measures Iodine accurately. I quit adding chemicals to my reefs
in 1996 and thats when things finally started going well for my tanks.
