open brain got melted by mushroom

I did not realize this but my open brain got stung real bad by a red
mushroom and about an inch of flesh has melted away. It is right in the
middle of the brain. The sides still open however the middle looks pretty
bad. Is this something that will recover or should I just give up and try
and not polute the tank?

I am getting ride of all my mushrooms ASAP.

Strotinum will help it recover some but its going to take a while IME.

i have 2 open brains that were in contact with one another for about a year
now but for some reason decided to sting one another here recently and
caused massive tissure recession. one may be pulling through, but the other
is a gonner.
