Hello, I'm looking to start my fist salt tank and was thinking 1 of 2 options
I have an extra 75 gallon that is one choice, it has an Emperor 400 bio wheel
filter and a 2 x 40watt light, and a 300 watt heater, but I would have to buy anything
else it needs (more light? skimmer, UV lamp, another filter? timers, etc)
my second consideration is one of those small (10-20 gallon) mini reef
complete kits which I assume I wont have to buy anything else for
I do like the idea of the bigger tank but I'm scared that I'll have a problem
maintaining it plus I don't really want a MH setup if I can get away with just
buying another 80watt twin fluorescent light so it'll have 160 total, 2+ watts per
gallon (is that enough light to have a reef?)
I forgot what those mini reef kits were called so if anyone has a link it would be
great
is it a stupid idea to try to have my first salt tank be a reef tank?
I'm not new to fish , I have 5 large tanks with africans in them and have
been keeping chiclids for about 15 years so I understand the basics, but
I'm not really sure about some of the salt stuff and what it's used for (and do I
need it?) like the skimmer, chiller? etc.
Any help would be great
Thanks for your time, Duane
