Anybody knows how does the SCWD device work?
What is inside of it? Just curious... :-))

It just switches water flow from one side to the other. The speed of the
switching is controlled by the amount of water being pushed through it.
You can hear the gears spinning if you blow air through it instead of water
(this was before it was installed on the tank). My guess is there are
plastic gears in there that switch a flap between to two sides.

ok, i always thought it a SCWD was just a wave making powerhead, or did I?
Anyway, now that i was Marcs diagram of it, what is this thing? just a wave
creator so that currents arent always going in one direction? Should i add
one of these to my system or will a powerhead wave maker suffice considering
i already have 2 big penguins inside the tank and another in the sump.

It just switches the current from one side of the scwd to the other. IMO
alternating current is a good thing.

Remember, you payed for the idea, not only pieces of plastic.

Hej, think of something else :)
Make your own wavemaker design, better one... :-)))
And make it "public domain" for us, DIYouselvers.

I want to claim inventing salt-water. Of course, it'll be public domain
for reefers, but I *do* plan on patenting it. *Waiting for the
patent-violation cash to start flowing in...*
