I have a new 54 Gallon corner tank that has finally cycled. I put 4
damsels in Monday and they seem quite happy. Anyhow, while the tank was
cycling I noticed brown algae growing on the sandy bottom and on the
glass. It seems to continue to grow although not at an alarming rate.

What should I do? Is there a fish or shrimp that will eat it? Is it
harmful or just not pretty to look at?

Thanks.

diatom algae its normal, it will go away on its own as your tank matures.

there are a number of things that will consume it, just dont get something
that must consume it, its not really a problem, there are things that will
make it grow more new bulbs, disrupted cycle, silicates from your water. if
you think on it a second 2 of the 3 are things every new tank must go thru.
so you have it :)
