View Full Version : Sump for a 29 gallon

Would the effects of a sump on a 29 gallon be worth the investment?

Just so I understand it right. The tanks has a steady current that flows to
the sump and the sump pumps water back in to the tank. This allows for
evaporated water to be added to the sump instead of the tank and also it
increase stability by having more water volume?

I can see that this would probably be just as if not more helpful on a
smaller tank but this means having a sump that would be almost the same
size. Or would have a 10 gallon sump still be a help?

hmm sort of sounds like I answered my own question doesn't it.

Yes you did, and a 10 would be a good addition. my 29 currently has a 30g
sump/fuge on it, but it had a 10 for a long time befor i built the new one.

If you got a 100 gallon sump on a 29 gallon tank, then you could pack the
tank full of fish, and still have enough filtration left to deal with the
ammonia.

Just think: squeeze a whole school of 10-20 ocellaris clownfish into a
29 gallon tank. What a show tank that would be!

(OK, so the fish may be sad to not have enough free space to swim around
in ... but still, it's an interesting idea.)

I'm sure my two perculas wouldn't mind having an extra 100 gallons around.
