Can you get the NNTP setting off your old pc? If not, go to your isp's
website, or just do a google search for your isp and nntp or newsgroup.

That's the port number NNTP uses. Sounds like she needs the name of the news
servers at her ISP.

Do as the other poster suggested. Browse around on your ISPs site and you
should be able to find the server names.

From the computer that you posted this message with, if using outlook
express click on "Tools" in the menu bar then "accounts" then click on the
"News" tab that select the news server and click on properties. Then click
on the "Server" tab and you will see the name of the NNTP server. By
default your new computer using Outlook Express will set the port. In
Outlook Express on the new computer, click tools then accounts then add-news
and follow the wizard entering the NNTP server name when asked. Who is your
ISP? Mine is shaw and the news server is "shawnews" without the qoutes.

I am not posting this from a computer, but a webtv unit. We just bought
a new computer and I would like to post on it so I can set up a nospam
addy. I realize that I can go through google, but can not hide in
there. Any help in getting the name of this news groups server would be
great.

Thanks,
Vicki

its carried by many many isps... check with your ISP weather
its road runner, or sbc dsl or whomever they can tell you
what thier news server address is. earthlink.. ev1 .. almost
all providers have news servers or did last time I went looking.

It's too late... they already have your email address. Have you searched the
net lately?
