Is it normal for corals to move?
I have what I *thought* was a red mushroom. A pic can be seen here...

The last two times my lights were left off for longer than normal, I noticed
some changes in this guy.
The first time (about 2 weeks ago) the lights were left off all day. The
next day, he was "loose" on his rock. I saw him kind of dangle a little
bit.
This second time, today, the lights were only on half of the day. My wife
turned them on for me around noon while I was at work. I was just looking
at my tank now at 9:15 CST and I noticed we was gone!
I found him, not to far from his old spot but now he is just sitting on the
sand.
What gives? Is he trying to find a more suitable "lit" position?
Should I leave him be?
TIA

Mushrooms move but not so quickly...
And they do not dislodge themselves from the rock but
rather streach their "foot", a little like a snail...

Hard corals do not move from place to place, some soft corals can move.
remove nospam from e-mail to send to me, I grow trees in aquariums like bonsai.
I breed dwarf crayfish, great for planted community tanks. If you can get me a
shovelnose sturgeon fingerling (Scaphirhynchus platorynchus) no wild caught
please, contact me

Some hard corals can, such as Fungia
"If you can get me a

You can get them from some LFS in Minnesota, same for all game fish, to include Paddle
Fish. There is a guy here that breeds them for the DNR

Yes mushrooms will dislodge themselves if they arent happy, I spent 6 months
trying to get one to reattach to the LR in my tank, but it never worked. But
when I did a tank upgrade and put my invert carrying LR in buckets it
decided to attach on its own... the mystery of nature I guess.

Follow Up:
I tried relocating him 2 or 3 times, Each time he would find his way back
to the sand. I figured I'd let him be.
Now he is in the corner, on the sand, and has nearly doubled in size!
What's up with that?!?

Well, eventually I got him to stick to a rock again. He has reattached and
continues to grow =)
Guess I just had to find the right spot.
