View Full Version : SW Delivered to my home

Just took delivery of 30gals of natural seawater to my home. No more
mixing salt for me! :-) Anyone else use natural seawater in their
tanks?

I'm curious as to what the per gallon charge was for that and how often
you plan on doing it. How is that water processed to remove any
impurities? Where is it collected from?

Its $1 per gal delivered, quite reasonable. It's filtered via huge
sand filters, then run through charcol and then a micron filter. It's
collected from a local source here in Halifax NS.

I use natural seawater in both my tank - I live at the beach. I collect
from the beach and incoming high tides and that's about it. I live in a
relatively unpopulated area in NE Florida- I've tested the water and it's
pretty darn clean. A little phosphate, but easily removed with a PS. LOVE
it. Never had a problem in over a year - 125 reef and 20 reef going strong.

Good price, especially with delivery.
I'm in the San Francisco Bay area. A local fish store (Ultimate Aquarium on
El Camino near Hwy 92) imports natural sea water from Catalina, and sells it
from their holding tank at $1/gallon also.
Not quite as convenient as delivery, but easier than mixing and probably
better for the aquarium as well.

I think the water at Bondi is OK most of the time -- there are plenty of
fish swimming around.

hi guys,
I live in perth western aus. and their is a bloke here that delivers water
and apparently filters it to 5 microns. I myself choose to collect it
myself, but thorough testing before adding to the tank would rule out any
misfortunes that arise from using water that LOOKS clean
