Just had a 1 hour 17 minute power failure. Finally saw one of my kuhlis out
and about immediately after the power was restored. All looks fine and I
expect all to be fine but I will be keeping my eyes open for problems and
will notify this group of any, at the very least for "research" type
purposes (i.e. what others can expect in similar situations for prevention
reasons). This is nothing compared to the past when I was finishing high
school and it was mid december and the power went out for 18 hours! The
natural gas was out at the same time and the other half of the city got
better treatment than us (seemed like favoritism) as they retained full
power through out the whole thing. The house temperatures reached 38 degrees
fahrenheit and luckily all I had for pets besides 2 cats and a dog were 3
mosquito fish and 1 california newt. The pets did fine but he fish went into
hibernation for a few days (or some kind of temperature shock) because of
the low temperature. Talk about brisk walks around the house! In order to
wait out the power failure I tried to sleep with 10 or more blankets on me
and I was still cold! It sure was wonderful when the power was restored....
