View Full Version : Any tips for Evacuating for storm?

Hi -- I'm in Galveston Co. Tx under mandatory evac order for Thursday night
at midnight.
Four tanks: 55, 38, 20 and 9.
Tetras, loaches, rainbows, coreys, otos, one ram, one betta.
I'm fairly sure we'll have power outage at the least -- hate to think about
worst case. Can't possibly take all four tanks. I have battery operated
air pumps.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance -- much to do before Thursday.

Take whatever can't be replaced first.

in sealable 5 gal. buckets. take an air pumps, do water changes, keep
temperature stable, skip feedings, et alii. gonna be hell on the fish but
you'll be able to maintain them better than if you leave them behind.
best of luck, our prayers are with all of you.

Thanks -- I've got the buckets, if I can get lids tomorrow, I'll be set.
That I can manage. Can also take smaller filters and sponge filters for use
while we're away
(being optimistic that the tanks will still be there when we get back).
And thanks for the prayers. We need them.

Thanks, Dean. I know you've been through this recently (I mostly lurk and
learn). I hope I'm as fortunate as you were with your fish during Katrina
Scottie.

I hope everything is ok. Where I come from they threaten us with
cyclones every year but they usually turn out to be not that exciting.
I was a little complacent when I heard about Hurricane Katrina, but
when I saw the news and all the damage, I realised that it was really
bad. I sincerely hope that everything will be ok.

Good news, you seem to be on the back side of the storm now. I feel for
Port Aurthur/Beaumont though. But GEEZ, Galveston floods if you spit in the
street.
Good luck and hope all is well
