You know how the saying goes. If you think it's too good to be true it

It is not a really bad deal, but I don't think it is that great. The
pendant is not much more than a normal reflector than a real pendant.
What exactly are you looking for? Do you want pendants or just a normal
retrofit kit?

I did have my eye on this PFO ballast... http://tinylink.com/?hzkBvvNNBj
for $165 and it's a dual 400W ballast. The reflector/socket combos that I
like are about $45 ea...
http://tinylink.com/?j4nWZII33h
So I guess it works out to be the same.
For the bulbs, I am thinking the Hamilton 10000K but the only place I found
those was here...
http://www.coralreefecosystems.com/ltg_bulbs.asp#Metal%20Halide%20Bulbs
for $94 ea.
What kind of bulbs were you talking about kc and from where? Thanks

I read up on it and I just kint find a retrofit kit with everything that I
like.
So, I was going to piece one together myself so I could have all the options
I wanted.
Plus, the reflectors in pendants seem to be a lot better than the ones with
the retrofit kits. From what I have read anyway. That PFO Optimal relector
that I mentioned in the other post is pretty good from what I have read.

I purchased my lights from CoolTouch Lighting - they also sell on eBay, and
that's how I got into contact with them. They are based in Canada, and are
easy to get a hold of via phone.
One of the MH ballasts in the original shipment had problems, and they sent
a replacement which got crushed during delivery. It took awhile for them to
replace that, but they finally did.
My take on them is that they are a small company that has a lot of sales
based on the quality of their lights. My only concern is how they'll react
if I do have problems with their lights later ... since they are small, they
can't easily absorb replacement costs and support issues. I think there's a
1 year warranty, but it's not written down anywhere. So far, so good though.
I got MH w/ Ushio 10K bulbs & 2 VHO bulbs in a retrofit kit for <$500.
Hope that helps.
