To all those who replied to my request for suggestions, thank you. I was
unable, fortunately, to take any fish with me. We were 39 hours traveling
285 miles (one way) in 100 plus degree temps, so the fish would not have
survived, and when I returned home, my power had not gone down and most fish
were fine. As an added bonus, I had left the lights off, and a persistant
algae problem has vanished. I did lose some wild caught Emperor tetras in
one tank, but fish in all other tanks are fine although they were hungry.
Even the shrimp are active.

Thank you for your good wishes. I'm very glad we didn't have room for the
fish. We nearly lost the cats from the heat and confinement. It was a
horrible experience.

Glad to hear it worked out for you :-) although sorry you all had to
endure the journey out
