How would one propagate Xenias?

they have to be one of the easiest...
cut/scrape them off the glass or rock you'd like to remove from.
Rubberband or superglue to some other rock and give them a couple of
days. By the end of 2 weeks the stump you gut from will have regenerated
and with luck the propogated end will have reattached to the new substrate.
Some let the cutings dry out to a leathery state and superglue to rock
chunks and then stick them back into the return flow. I've never tried
that method, prefering to do the rubberbanding technique. I'd say I have
a 70% sucess rate w/ the new cuttings and the stumps have always
regenerated.

why would you want to? IME it takes over a tank very quickly on its own.

no need to 'propagate' it.

but if you still want to, just place a rock so that it touches the Xenia and
it will grow onto the rock in about 3 days and then just cut the rock away
from the colony and there you have a frag.

Under ideal conditons, it will grow like weeds and most likely out kill your
other corals as well. I believe the condition is high nutrient. You may want
to search the google archive and double check me on it.
