View Full Version : feeding intervals

My tank just about to finish its cycling process. I'm ready to buy new
fish. I've been going to different websites and most of them say feed
2-3 times daily or several time a day depending on the fish. I'm just
thinking of buying an emperor angel or blue/yellow tang. My question
is... is it really necessary to feed them 2-3 times daily? I've been
reading posts that say they are feeding every other day.

Thanks
Rudy

I feed mine once a day. I have a Tang, two large Damsels, and a lionfish. Feed
early in the day so that they can pick at the leftovers.

My lion is fairly small, so he's a growing boy. As he gets larger, I will feed
him less often.

Drink is the curse of the land. It makes you quarrel with your neighbor.
It makes you shoot at your landlord. And it makes you miss him.

Rudy,

It will depend on what species of fish, and how your tank is setup. If
you are going with a FOWLR tank, the angel and tang will be able to
graze on the life on the live rock as well as eat the food that you are
providing, so you can go a lot longer between feedings. If your tank is
going to be pretty bare, you will need to feed more often since there
will be less food growing in the tank.

Hello Rudedog, (The mind boggles. Ha! Ha!)

I agree with what Kim has written, but also bear in mind that if they
are hungry, they are likely to get stroppy and the stronger take
pieces out of the weaker fish, resulting in possible death of the
weaker ones - Mother Nature at work.
